Subjective, Objective, dan Possessive Personal Pronoun

Personal pronoun dapat berfungsi sebagai subjectobject, maupun possessive (parameter case). Berikut penjelasan penjelasan dan contoh kalimatnya.

  1. Subjective personal pronouns (I, you, they, we, she, he, it) berarti personal pronoun berfungsi sebagai subject.

    Contoh Kalimat Personal Pronoun

    • He is a politician.
      (Dia adalah politisi.)
    • It is the most delicious cake that I have ever eaten.
(Ini kue terlezat yang saya pernah makan.)
  2. Objective personal pronouns (me, you, us, them, her, him, it) berarti personal pronoun dapat berfungsi sebagai:

    Contoh Kalimat Personal Pronoun

    • He lent me two interesting books.
(Dia meminjami saya dua buku yang menarik.) object of verb
    • None understands why the man really loves her.
(Tak satupun mengerti kenapa pria tersebut mencintai dia.) object of verb
    • Everybody is enthusiastic to help her.
(Setiap orang antusias membantunya.) object of verb
    • If only he shared his problem with me.
(Seandainya dia membagi masalahnya kepada saya.) object of preposition
  3. Possessive personal pronouns (mine, yours, ours, theirs, hers, his) berarti personal pronoun berfungsi untuk menunjukkan siapa yang memiliki sesuatu dengan menempati posisi sebagai: subject of a sentence, subject complement, atau objek.

    Contoh Kalimat Personal Pronoun

    • Yours was sent yesterday.
(Milikmu dikirim kemarin) subject of sentence
    • Mine is the biggest one.
(Punyaku yang terbesar.) subject of sentence
    • The red and black car is his.
(Mobil merah-hitam tsb milik dia.) subject complement
    • That is ours.
      (Itu punya kita.) subject complement

First, Second, dan Third-Person Personal Pronoun

Personal pronoun dapat menempati posisi sebagai 1st person2nd person, atau 3rd person (parameter person). Penjelasan dan contoh kalimatnya sebagai berikut.

  1. 1st person — orang pertama (I, me, we, us) digunakan ketika sedang berbicara sebagai orang pertama (diri sendiri), kita dapat menggunakan kata ganti daripada menggunakan namanya.

    Contoh Kalimat Personal Pronoun

    • I would be very happy if you lent me a little money.
(Saya akan sangat senang jika kamu meminjami saya sedikit uang.)
    • We‘re looking for a philanthropist to support us.
(Kami sedang mencari seorang dermawan untuk mendukung kami.)
  2. 2nd person — orang kedua (you) digunakan ketika sedang berbicara dengan orang lain (bertindak sebagai orang kedua), kita dapat menggunakan kata ganti untuk orang kedua daripada menyebut nama aslinya.

    Contoh Kalimat Personal Pronoun

    • You shouldn’t put yours anywhere.
(Kamu tidak seharnya meletakkan milikmu dimana-mana.)
    • I will help you to get yours.
      (Saya akan membantumu mendapatkan milikmu.)
  3. 3rd person — orang ketiga (she, he, it, her, him, it, they, them) digunakan ketika sedang membicarakan orang lain (orang lain bertindak sebagai orang ketiga), kita dapat menyebut namanya pada permulaan pembicaraan, selanjutnya diganti dengan kata ganti orang ketiga.

    Contoh Kalimat Personal Pronoun

Ferdi is a generous man. He always sets aside his for the poor and visits the orphanage. Everybody likes him.
(Ferdi adalah orang yang pemurah. Dia selalu menyisihkan miliknya untuk orang miskin dan mengunjungi panti asuhan. Setiap orang menyukainya.)

Personal Pronoun sebagai Appositive

Personal Pronoun dapat digunakan pada appositive. Jika appositive menerangkan subject, kata ganti yang digunakan adalah subjective personal pronouns (I, you, they, we, she, he, it). Sebaliknya jika appositive menerangkan object, maka kata ganti yang digunakan adalah objective personal pronouns (me, you, us, them, her, him, it).

Contoh Kalimat Personal Pronoun sebagai Appositive

  • The team, Atiek and he, got two gold medals.
(Tim tersebut, Atiek dan dia, mendapatkan dua medali emas.) The team= subject, Atiek and he = appositive, he = subjective pp
  • Diana invited her best friends, Vina and me, to her wedding party.
(Diana mengundang teman-teman baiknya, Vina dan saya, ke pesta pernikahannya.) her best friend = object, Vina and me= appositive, me = objective pp

Catatan

Formula yang sopan menempatkan kata ganti ini (subjective dan objective) setelah nama orang lain (Atiek and he, Vina and me).

Maaf banget William baru balas 🙁

Sama-sama singular, third person, subjective case (berperan sebagai subject), tapi it bisa juga untuk objective case. She dan he mengarah kepada orang dengan gender spesifik yaitu masing-masing female dan male, sedangkan it biasanya mengarah kepada benda, keadaan, action, dll.

      Contoh:
      *She/he/it made me cry. (subjective)
      *I like it. (objective)
      *I like she her. (objective)

Ka maaf mau Tanya contoh dari ini gimana?
If the final sound of the noun’s singular or the verbs infunive is: a vowel or consonant /b-d-g-v-…-m-n-…/so,the ending is formed by the addition of/-z)

    1. Wilma Yulia

Apanya Eka? Ours di kalimat dapat berperan sebagai subject, subject complement, atau object (object of verb / object of preposition).

      Contoh:

subject: Ours is thicker than theirs. (Milik kita lebih tebal dari milik mereka.)
subject complement: That is ours. (Itu milik kita)
object of verb: They used ours without permission. (Mereka menggunakan punya kita tanpa permisi.)
object of preposition: After I looked at their data, they looked at ours. (look at = examine)

  4. Bobby

    4. … is the cheapest watch ever sold at the store.
    Your
    You
    Yours
Knp jawaban nya bisa yours Kak..
Kan yours bukan subject tapi possesive pronoun

    1. Wilma Yulia

      Halo Bobby,

Pronoun itu punya 3 macam case: subjective, objective, dan possessive case. Sesuai namanya, pronoun pada subjective case (I, you, they, we, she, he, it, etc) berarti berfungsi sebagai subject of verb atau subject complement; objective case (me, you, us, them, her, him, it, etc) sebagai object of verb atau object of preposition; sedangkan possessive case (mine, yours, ours, theirs, hers, his, its, etc) dapat berfungsi sebagai subject ataupun object di dalam suatu kalimat.

Kita lihat posisi yang kosong di kalimat itu jelas-jelas subject ya, berarti ada dua kemungkinan yang mengisi yaitu si pronoun pada subjective case atau possessive case. Selanjutnya tinggal liat konteksnya aja Bobby.. kalo pake “you” kan gak make sense :D, berarti tersisa yours 🙂 Kalo versi possessive adjective + noun = your watch

    2. TM

karena yours itu artinya kepunyaan, terus kalo kita pakai you berarti are bukan is, nah kalo your kan gk ada kata benda setelah itu, itu sih menurut ku

  6. bie

    hy min…
Msh bingung cara penggunaaan US dan OUR
    Dibantu jelasin dong min…

    Thks yah

    1. Wilma Yulia

      Hai Bie,
Us itu objective personal pronoun jadi posisinya objek, gak bisa subject.
      *He treated us like kings.

Kalo our itu possessive adjective alias determiner — pembatas noun — jadi ada noun setelahnya (noun phrase = determiner + noun). Peran our di dalam kalimat bisa subject, object, atau subject complement (setelah linking verb)..

*Our key is on the table. [S]
      *That is our class. [SC]
      *They found our key. [O]

Kalo masi bingung bawa aja contoh kalimat ke sini Bie 🙂

  7. Syahid

Hay Wilma . I like the way you explain the materials . Two thumbs for ya …. hihhii ^_^

    Mau tanya min…
    Yours was sent* yesterday.
Itu knpa mnggunakan sent, bukan send??

Mksh bnyak buat web blog nya…brmanfaat bgt 🙂
Bls via e-mail jga ya min..

    1. Wilma Yulia

      Halo Bia,
Passive simple past itu (artinya kan “punyamu dikirim (bukan “mengirim”) kemarin”), makanya pakai past participle (verb-3) “sent”. Kalo “send” tentunya buat active simple present ya atau simple future: I will send yours tomorrow.

Oh iya… makasi juga uda baca-baca dan ninggalin komen 😀

    1. Zahrah

I am sorry. I want ask you about no. 2? Is that the correct answer?
My brother told me not to touch “his” when he wasn’t at home..
In my mind him is the correct answer, because it is objective. Possessive personal pronoun must be followed by noun.

    2. Wilma Yulia

      Hi Zahrah! 🙂

I think you’ve got the point–why “his” is the correct answer. Possessive pronouns can act as a subject or direct object. Possessive adjectives have similar forms to possessive pronouns, but they are followed by a noun, while possessive pronouns stand for a noun.

Kl ” your book” nah your itu namany apa?? Ikut dalam personal pronoun bagian apa? Subject, object, possesive, atau apa?

  10. Handrie

[1] The red and black car is* his.
[2] He borrowed me two interesting book*.
[3] I would be very happy if you borrow me a* little money.

    Maaf mau tanya, admin.
[1] kenapa menggunakan is, itu bukannya jamak?
[2] kenapa tidak menggunaka kata “books”?
[3] kenapa perlu ditambahkan “a” sebelum little?

Maaf banyak tanya ya, bukannya saya malas baca literatur. tapi saya lebih cepat ingat kalo belajar by discussion. dan web blognya sangat bermanfaat untuk saya yang baru mulai belajar english.

*kalo bisa dijawab via e-mail juga yaa 🙂
    thanks sebelumnya.

    1. Wilma Yulia

      Halo Handrie,

[1]Red and black car maksud saya mobil berwarna merah dan hitam, bukan ada dua mobil (mobil merah dan mobil hitam), makanya pake “is”.
[2]Typo, maaf ya, sudah diperbaiki. 🙂
[3]a little / little diikuti uncountable noun.
a little (sedikit), sedangkan little (sedikit sekali, hampir tidak punya, lebih sedikit dari a little).

Gpp tanya banyak2 Handrie. Saya senang kalo blog ini bermanfaat. Sukses buat belajarmu ya. Saya sudah reply ke imel. 😀
