Macam Verb Voice

Verb voice menyatakan apakah suatu subject melakukan aksi atau menerima aksi. Verb voice dibedakan menjadi dua: active dan passive. Jika subject berlaku sebagai pelaku aksi (doer of action), kata kerjanya disebut active voice; sedangkan jika subject bertindak sebagai penerima aksi (receiver of action) dan yang lain yang melakukan aksi, kata kerjanya disebut passive voice. Hanya transitive verb (kata kerja yang diikuti direct object) yang mempunyai bentuk active dan passive.

contoh verb voice: Bob fixed the broken car.(Bob memperbaiki mobil rusak itu.) The broken car was fixed by Bob. (Mobil rusak itu diperbaiki oleh Bob.)

Rumus Verb Voice

Active Voice

subject (doer of action) + verb (action) + direct object (receiver of action)

Passive Voice

subject (receiver of action) + auxiliary verb + past participle (action) +/- by … (doer of action)

Keterangan

Auxiliary verb dapat berupa: is, are, am, was, were, is/are being, was/were being, has/have been, will be, will have been.

Contoh Kalimat Verb Voice dan Artinya

  1. The student has cleaned the whiteboard.
    (Siswa itu telah membersihkan papan tulis.) active voice
  2. Someone left roses on my desk this morning.
    (Seseorang meninggalkan mawar di meja saya pagi ini.) active voice
  3. The whiteboard has been cleaned by the student.
    (Papan tulis telah dibersihkan oleh siswa itu.) passive voice
  4. Roses were left on my desk this morning.
    (Bunga mawar ditinggalkan di meja saya pagi ini.) passive voice
  5. The chef prepared a delicious meal.
    (Koki itu menyiapkan makanan lezat.) active voice
  6. A delicious meal was prepared by the chef.
    (Makanan lezat disiapkan oleh koki itu.) passive voice
