Rumus Yes-No Question Present Continuous Tense

Kalimat positive present continuous tense menggunakan linking verb “be” (am/is/are) sebagai komponen verb phrase-nya. Yes-no question dapat langsung dibuat dengan menukar posisi subject of verb (S) dan be.

Kalimat Positive

S + be (am/is/are) + present participle

Yes-No Question

Be (am/is/are) + S + present participle

  • is untuk subject berupa third person singular (Jack, a man, she, he, it)
  • am hanya untuk “I”
  • are untuk “you” dan plural subject (Jack and I, we, they)

  1. I’m still growing physically at the age of 19.
    (Saya masih tumbuh secara fisik di umur 19 tahun.)

    Am I still growing physically at the age of 19?
    (Apakah saya masih tumbuh secara fisik di umur 19 tahun?)

  2. You are reading a controversial book.
    (Kamu sedang membaca buku yang kontroversial.)

    Are you reading a controversial book?
    (Apakah kamu sedang membaca buku yang kontroversial?)

  3. She is working hard.
    (Dia sedang bekerja dengan keras.)

    Is she working hard?
    (Apakah dia sedang bekerja dengan keras?)

  4. They are laying on my bed.
    (Mereka sedang berbaring di tempat tidur saya.)

    Are they laying on my bed?
    (Apakah mereka sedang berbaring di tempat tidur saya?)

  1. Am I arriving early? / Are we arriving early?
    • Yes, you are.
    • No, you aren’t.
  2. Is she/he/it arriving early?
    • Yes, she/he/it is.
    • No, she/he/it isn’t.
  3. Are you arriving early?
    • Yes, I am.
    • No, I’m not.
  4. Are they arriving early?
    • Yes. they are.
    • No, they aren’t.
