Pengertian dan Penggunaan Cue dan Queue

Cue dan queue merupakan homophone, dilafalkan sama namun berbeda artinya.

Noun (kata benda) cue memiliki beberapa arti antara lain “something that serves as a signal” (sesuatu yang berfungsi sebagai tanda) atau “a rod for striking the ball in billiards, pool, or snooker” (tongkat untuk mendorong bola di biliar, pool, atau snooker), sedangkan queue berarti “a line of people (or vehicles) waiting for something” (antrean orang yang sedang menunggu sesuatu).

Cue dan queue dapat pula digunakan sebagai verb (kata kerja) dengan makna masing-masing “to give a signal (= to give a cue)” (memberi tanda) atau “to strike (a ball) with a cue” (mendorong dengan cue –tongkat); dan “to wait in a line” (menunggu di dalam antrean).
