Materi Yes-No Question
Yes-No question merupakan pertanyaan yang meminta jawaban yes (ya) atau no (tidak). Tipe pertanyaan ini dimulai dengan linking verb “be” (am/is/are/was/were), atau auxiliary verb (do, does, did, can, could, may, should, etc).
Contoh Soal Yes-No Question
Berdasarkan declarative sentence (statement) di bawah ini, pilihlah yes-no question yang tepat.

- a. Does Veralia like swimming? | Karena declarative sentence tidak punya auxiliary maupun linking verb, maka untuk membentuk yes-no question dibutuhkan dummy auxiliary (do/does/did). Gunakan rumus: do/does/did + S + main verb (bare infinitive) … ?
- b. Have the passengers been waiting for thirty minutes? | Ada dua auxiliary verb (have, been) pada declarative sentence ini. Hanya yg pertama yang dipindahkan ke awal kalimat.
- a. Can’t a person drive a car on public roads without a driver’s licence? | Pada negative yes-no question, not langsung ditambahkan setelah linking verb “be” atau auxiliary verb.
- b. Have all the graduate students finished their dissertation? | Declarative sentence merupakan kalimat present perfect tense. Dengan demikian memiliki auxiliary verb have. Gunakan rumus: auxiliary verb + S + main verb (past participle) … ?
- b. Did Aldo come late yesterday? | Declarative sentence hanya punya main verb came (tanpa auxiliary maupun linking verb). Dengan demikian diperlukan dummy auxiliary (do/does/did). Gunakan rumus: do/does/did + S + main verb (bare infinitive) … ?
