Materi Born vs. Borne

Born dan borne merupakan homophone yang sama-sama merupakan past participle (v-3) dari verb bear.

Bear memiliki bentuk past tense (v-2) “bore” dan past participle “born” atau “borne” tergantung maknanya.

Ketika bear berarti “to give birth to a child”, past participle “born” yang biasanya digunakan dalam konstruksi passive, sedangkan pada konstruksi active, “borne” yang dipakai. Ketika bear berarti “to accept, endure, or tolerate something”, selalu borne yang digunakan sebagai past particple.
