Childish atau Childlike?

Childish dan childlike sama-sama merupakan adjective (kata sifat) yang mengarah pada karakteristik anak.

Childish berarti “silly and immature” (konyol dan tidak dewasa). Sifat-sifat negatif tersebut biasa ditemui pada anak-anak, namun menjadi lebih kurang baik bila orang dewasa yang memilikinya.

Berbeda dengan childish, childlike yang bermakna “having good qualities that children often have, such as innocent and trusting” (memiliki sifat-sifat baik yang  anak-anak biasanya miliki, seperti: polos dan dapat dipercaya), merupakan sifat ideal pada anak-anak, sehingga menjadi baik jika tetap bertahan pada orang dewasa.
